The VMA is the ONLY trade association for manufacturers in Volusia and Flagler counties, Florida for Daytona Beach manufacturing, and it's surrounding areas!

Founded by Manufacturers for Manufacturers in 1980, this vibrant manufacturing community is located in the dynamic Daytona Beach area with its beautiful beaches and its diverse activities from the NASCAR - Daytona 500 and Bike Week at the Daytona Beach International Speedway, to the home of the LPGA, Daytona Cubs, and the summer home of the London Symphony Orchestra.

About the Speaker:
Although born in New Jersey, Suzanne Forbes has deep roots in Florida. She was raised in the Florida Keys but for the last 27 years Suzanne has called Volusia County home.
In addition to serving as the 2012 Chair of the Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce, she is also is a board member or advisor to several educational and community organizations. These include George Marks Elementary School, Stetson University School of Accounting, Stetson University School of Business, Daytona Beach Area Association of REALTORS®, and the Sunset Harbor Yacht Club Admiralty Board.

Suzanne also spends a significant amount of time serving clients as a trusted business advisor. She strongly believes in nurturing positive economic and business development throughout our local community. This has included finding supportive resources for companies, fostering employment opportunities, and retaining professionals in the community.

She graduated from Stetson University with a Bachelors of Business Administration with a major in Accounting and a Masters of Accountancy. Suzanne is a Partner of James Moore & Co., P.L. where she provides services within the real estate, commercial business, service professionals and development markets. She has authored articles on accounting and income tax issues and has conducted numerous training courses on these topics. She is a member of the American Institute of Public Accountants, Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

The job market is looking brighter for Volusia County in 2012, especially among manufacturers, which local economic development organizations are planning to cater to in the coming year.


Education builds local opportunity

What impressed me the most was the entrepreneurial spirit that exists with these students, and the fact that they were considering manufacturing in Volusia County. One of the students -- Brian Rieger -- worked as an intern at Hudson Technologies with our continuous improvement and lean manufacturing teams.
