On January 28, 2010, Senator Lynn will be discussing and obtaining feedback on the economic impact of manufacturing in Volusia and Flagler counties and the state of Florida, and the future of manufacturing in this economy. President & CEO, Jayne Fifer, said, “With the downturn of manufacturing and other industries in our counties and state, it’s more critical than ever for the manufacturers’ voices to be heard by our representatives. The VMA is working hard to provide its members with such an opportunity.”
Volusia Manufacturers Association is dedicated to examining legislation proposed by national, state, county, and city officials and advising members on issues that will impact their businesses directly or indirectly. This meeting is just one of many that will be presented in 2010 by the VMA for members to directly interact with county, state, and federal representatives.
Commissioner in the City of Ormond Beach. Following eight years in the Florida House of Representatives, she was elected to the Florida Senate in November 2002. Notably, Senator Lynn is the first woman elected to state office from Volusia County and the first woman to Chair the House Committee on Education Appropriations.
Currently, Senator Lynn is the Chair of the Florida Senate Committee on Higher Education Appropriations. She is also a member of the following Senate committees: Policy and Steering for Ways and Means; Policy and Steering for Commerce and Industry; Rules; Higher Education; Commerce; and Military Affairs and Domestic Security. She was recently appointed by the Senate President to serve on the Florida Cancer Control and Research Advisory Council.
