Here
is what some of last year's Lou Fifer Golf Tournament money was used for:
VMA
sponsored the Spruce Creek High School Academy of Information Technology and
Robotics (AITR) efforts in the FIRST Robotics Competition. They started
in Orlando in early March. Then went to Boca Raton. Norman Lane,
Rotomation, worked with the students in developing the robot that could throw
basketballs and Raydon sponsored, too.
Here
are the results:
Congratulations
to the AITR Robotics students on FIRST Robotics Competition Team 2152 -
S*M*A*S*H - for their outstanding performance at the South Florida
Regional FIRST Robotics Competition in Boca Raton this past
weekend. Team 2152 competed with and against 42 teams from
across the United States and Puerto Rico. Team 2152's robot made it to
the quarter-final rounds of the competition after securing a 7th seed
position. Team 2152 was also awarded the prestigious Jack Kamen
Imagery Award. The Imagery Award celebrates attractiveness
in engineering and outstanding visual aesthetic integration from the machine to
the team appearance.
Note from Norman:
Team S*M*A*S*H got into the finals at the South Florida Regional's
in 7th place. We did not win either of our quarter final matches, so we did not
advance to the semi. But the whole team is very excited and thrilled to have
done so well, and are looking forward to doing even better next year. Please
keep up your support for these kids who are so important to our country's
future.
Photos and videos will be posted at the team website soon. www.team2152.org

We can make a difference!
